Cost of Business

This artwork strives to increase awareness of the declines in bird populations occurring across the globe. The upper portion of the installation consists of suspended men’s dress shirts and black silhouettes of birds, suggesting the relationship between the loss of bird populations and many ordinary business practices such as coal-fired power plants and chemically dependent agri-business used to grow our cotton and food.

The lower section of the installation features 600 plastic water bottles. They represent a stream of water--our new technological stream of water and references the damage this technology is also inflicting on bird populations.
